How to Organize Your IKEA Purchase with a Rental Van
Planning a trip to IKEA can be approached in two ways: you can plan ahead or embrace the adventure. At Malco Rent a Car, we recommend planning to avoid surprises and save time.
Before You Go: Choose the Right Van
First, review the IKEA catalog and note the dimensions of the furniture you plan to purchase. Depending on their size, you can choose between:
- Volkswagen Transporter: 2.40m long x 1.41m high x 1.72m wide, 800kg capacity.
- Volkswagen Crafter: 3.30m long x 1.94m high x 1.74m wide, 1400kg capacity.
Check availability before you travel to ensure the exact model you need is in stock.
At IKEA: How to Organize Your Purchase
- Park Strategically: Avoid parking right at the entrance. Find a spot with enough room to load your purchase comfortably.
- Gather Tools: At the entrance, pick up a pencil, shopping list, and paper ruler. If you can’t find them, ask an employee.
- Follow the Layout: IKEA is organized by sections: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc. Note the product reference in each section.
- Storage and Pickup: Furniture is located on the ground floor, packaged and ready to go. Use the available carts without the need for coins.
- Ask Employees: If you have any doubts about dimensions, colors, or compatibility, ask at the information points in each section.
At the Checkout: Payment Methods
IKEA offers two types of checkout:
- Traditional checkout: An employee scans your items and processes the payment.
- Self-checkout: You scan the items and pay by card (cash is not accepted).
Loading Your Rental Van from Malco Rent a Car
Organize the load by placing heavier furniture first and saving bags and smaller items for last. Ensure everything is securely fastened to prevent damage during transit.
Did You Forget Something?
Don’t forget to pick up the children from the play area before you leave. If you’re tired, take a break at IKEA’s café and enjoy some Swedish treats before heading back.
